you may have them to short, or the ring is catching on the line etc. Although Bees are prone to collapse, but cant be sorted out with a little patience.
You need to seek out HD462, he seems to know alot more about the Bees Regards Bill |

got a bee 2.0 with 15cm power ring! they do add a lil more power and only tend to collapse when i try a jump!
just got a 6.6 from redsnail and this one also collapses fairlly easy during jumps andhas not got power rings! i recon u should make sure the size of the lines of ur power rings are right for ur kite! if not sort out ur break line mess it it make it short or longer and see what happens! BassM |

ok thanks for the help

Re: okay fitted power rings

Just a quick note the bees tend to colapse after a jump because the line tension changes rapidly and the kite is not as stable in this condition as some others - I have an 8.5 and this colapses after a jump also.

Think the problem is mainly caused by the kite flying to the zennith and you swing under it. By applying a little brake while in the air, you will slow the kite down and stop it from overshooting.
Very difficult to master, and you may not jump as high due to you sloing the kite down, but at least your decent will be floaty, well floater than hangin below a bag-o-washing....LOL Regards Bill |

My tuppenceworth,
I dont think it has anything to do with the zenith, but is more as described by akey - just a sudden change in the tension of the lines. I suffer this a lot if the wind isn't quite high enough and I try to board with my 5.5 You get enough wind to get going, but you effectively "catch" the kite and the resultant slacking in the lines causes it to form the infamous "bag of washing" Its a similar effect if you try to jump............. However, use of the brake lines may help as suggested by Bill.......... Pappa-D www.mental.as/pappa-d

Re: okay fitted power rings

Sorry, been haven't been on much the last few days, pc probs has meant I had to re-install everything.
I tend to have them a bit longer than recommended on Darkwaters' site. I found those sizes made it collapse more, where longer lines give you a happy medium between stability and power increase. I have my 2m with 10" (25cm) rings on, and my 4m with 12-14" (30-35cm) on (adjustable). I did some for my mates' 3m and we did it at 10" (25cm) like my 2m, and it flies fine. Regarding jumps, I put it down to losing line tension too, as you ladn you stop but the kite will keep descending. I get round it (90% of the time), by pulling down on the handles (lie you see a parachutist do on landing) and applying a slight amount of brake as I land. This slows the kite down, and keeps tension in the lines, and more often than not will stop it collapsing. ![]() This is a before and after pic. You can move the larkshead up and down the line to a different knot, if you make them adjustable. So can alter the length of the powerrings in seconds. |

They're 3/8th copper sealing washers from work
Just like a flat copper washer, but round in section, nice and smooth so nothing to snag the lines. Keep them small so they can't slip over the brake leader knots and get stuck. |

Just thought I'd say I agree with ffm as to why the kite luffs when jumping.
It gets excited, flies right over you, realises it's mistake and dies. As stated, tugging breaks a little helps. But is hard to do. |
