Posts: 0 (05/20/04 06:48:26) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hi Guys, Complete newbie to this site and relative newbie to Power Kiting, just a couple of months now. I've got a Beamer 3.6, just brought out by invento-hq. Nice kite. Steady and not too fast in the winds but still quite powerful and a Little Rascal MTB. Now I've been down the local beach (and those of you from the UK its the north end of the Wirral between Wales and Liverpool), and I've been watching the fellas on buggies tacking against the wind i.e. the wind goes north and they go east to west then swap over and come back on themselves. The problem i'm having is trying to pull the board east to west while the wind is traveling north. AM i just crap at this and most other people can do it? I can go fwd but when you get to the end of the beach (and pretty quickly in good weather) you face a good 1 mile run back with an unpacked kite and a board on your back. Any ideas or criticisms would be appreciated, Thanks, Mboto

Posts: 928 (05/20/04 08:45:17) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	If you find its not so much going east to west while the wind is blowing north, but more, that you tend to be able to travel left while facing the kite, but find it hard to travel right, then its most likely just down to being right handed / footed. Alot of newbies have the same problem. I dont board myself, but Its most likely the ability to shift your weight from one foot to the other when travelling in the opposite direction as well as take more of the pull of the kite in the opposite arm / hand as well. Only advice I can really give is practice the direction you find hardest to travel in, before shooting off in the 'good' direction. You will eventually get the hang of it. Regards Bill

Posts: 59 (05/20/04 12:53:50) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	If Bill's right and it is not being used to your board a handy tip is to go skidding on your kitchen lino! lol Sounds bizarre I know, but if you naturally put your left foot first whilst skidding (like most people) then you're a 'regular' and should set your board up to ride left foot first. If, like me, you slide right foot first, your refferred to as 'Goofy' and set your board up that way. It sounds basic, but my mate Mike spent a whole week Snowboarding regular (cos that's the way he skates), before he went skidding on some ice and realised he was actually Goofy! lols, he was most upset when he realised he'd wasted most of his holiday not being able to do much cos he had his feet the wrong way round! It can be very awkward if you're not sure.
