where oh where in lancashire |

I used to be a regular at St Annes beach with the old kite and buggy. After the unfortunate incident with the land yacht I moved along the coast to Southport. This weekend I was pulled by our upholders of law and order, told that if I was caught again I could face having my gear confiscated and fined to boot, What is that all about?. I am struggling to find somewhere decent locally, can anyone help?

Did you ask them what law you were actually breaking that would constitute you having your equipment confiscated?
Also their names and numbers and their local station, so that you could get in touch with them in the future, should you find out that it was ok to use the Southport Beach. Should you happen to take it up with the council and they say you could use it? I got permission to use our local field and the old racecourse, from the council, but I could put money on it that the Police dont know that!! You could try Fleetwood, but how long before there are no beaches left? The St Annes tragedy still overshadows the sport, but you would have thought that there would have been something sorted out by now? Regards Bill |

Errrr use St.Annes - your ok until you get a warning then you cant use, dont use near the yacht club as theres a grumpy old git there who rang the law and got me my warning, Fleetwood is where ill be doing it atm tides allowing and am also scouting the fylde area for grassland to use - if you have insurance you can use Stanley Park but trees there block wind to some extent - have kite boarded on Lasons field behind Stanley Park, reasonable size but tons of dog crap - if enough of us fylde coasters get together im sure we can find somewhere local - maybe one of the secondary school fields or maybe Wyndyke Farm, Im going to scout around Pilling next week when the kids are off ( got to do something with my son ) if you want to hook up sometime e-mail me

Whyndyke Farms a no no - the .......... oh well.
Searched the entire fylde area now - no buggies on any of Blackpool's Parks - no farmer willing to yield any fallow field but looking good for South of South Pier as they do allow Quads on there ( nearly a sq mile when tides out ). Also war declared on the old geezer in St.Anne's who has been informing the law when people use buggies - He's even more upset now that people are using plastic mixing bowls for scudding - So if I get arrested for using a mixing bowl as a vehicle ill let you know. |

Contacted Blackpool police and they are not aware of any ban for buggies used South of South pier so im assuming that it is ok to use them there, just dont go South of the ramp at Starr Gate as it becomes a St.Annes issue then.
For tidal information use this link www.ukho.gov.uk/tidepredi...ct=Predict and if anyone knows of somewhere else in a 20 mile radius of Blackpool please let me know Bill - maybe an idea to have a section for where you can and cannot use buggies for people to post. |

Ok another beach you can fly on is pilling sands, but youll be in competition with Quads and have the occasional microlight landing there - saying that as long as you respect others they will respect you.
