Guys, am completely new to all sort of things and need an advice- what size of ATB should I get if am 174m, 72kgs..
and what about wheels size? also wanted to find out whats the difference between harnesses/bars dedicated to kitesurfing and the ones I can use 4 kitelandboarding... thx in advance. |

Hi, welcome to the forum!
 You'll want an adult board, they tend to be around 120cm long, as opposed to the junior boards with are around 100cm long, and more lightweight. Wheels, eight or ten inch. Tens roll easier, but are heavier, probably better for crusing. Eights are probably better if you're planning on jumping at some point. Something like a Scrub Furnace Creek or Silver Reef, that sort of thing. As for harnesses, they're pretty much the same thing. Try and get to a shop to try those on though as it needs to be a good fit, and what you think will fit looking on websites, isn't always the case (as I found out). You don't need a harness if just starting out though, in fact, it's better if you aren't attached to the kite in case things go wrong. You can always add that later. Keep the footstraps on the board pretty loose too, so you can get off quick if need be, or you might end up with a knackered knee like I did....or better still, get a buggy...lol

Sorry for the delay in replying, got rushed into hospital beginning of last week, kidney stones....you don't want em, very painful.
I wouldn't bother with a bar to be honest, you get much more control with handles, and can still use them with a board. Plus you have the use of the brakes, which you've only have with a bar once you were using it with a harness. Having the brakes working is good for manouvreablility as well as safety. |
