The Beaufort Scale is an international scale for wind force, it uses visual indicators to gauge how powerful the wind is. Such as how flags are flying, the state of the sea, leaves and paper flying about etc.
Have a look on my website, I have a conversion chart on there under the Beaufort Scale link on the left of the site. Click link in my sig to go to my site. It's handy to learn the scale though, as it helps you gauge the wind speed without a windmeter etc. You get to 'feel' what's the right kite for the wind eventually. |

I'm not 100% certain, but I think you can add two lines to convert it to 4 lines, which will give you some basic sort of brakes on it. You'd need some 4 line handles too, something for a Revolution kite should be ok for a Symphony.

Yes you can add the extra lines for brakes to those tabs, it will also make reverse launch possible (just!)
You would be wise to change the lines for something else anyway as the standard ones do have a habit of snapping! Enjoy your first kite! Check the website to see what we are about http://www.countykites.co.uk

as a former owner of a 1.4 symph
the 2 loops are for the attachment of "tails" and to secure the bridles when packing! not that I ever used them for that!!!! BK |

There you go then, told ya I wasn't 100% sure...lol
I guess adding tails will help slow the kite down if you find it's flying too fast for you will it? Nice to see someone back BK, I was wondering where all the regualrs had disappeared to. |

A friend of mine has a little 1.4 symphony,
first time out in decent wind , the lines snapped on his one to quick dash to our local Kite shop and he bought a decent lineset for it. Never had any more probs. Symphony = Great VFM Kite (supplied with crappy lines) , ( spose they got to find someway of keeping the price low LOL) |
