I'm not really new to kiting, I've been flying for a while now mostly with a Prism Quantum, but I have a bit of parafoil experience cause my friend has one. I'm a competent kite flyer, 17 years old, and I've flown many kites, and I love flying! My question revolves mainly around the Beamer 3.6 by HQ. I'm interested in buying a parafoil primarily for scudding, learning a little about how to jump, and trying out some winter sports with a kite. I'm wondering if the Beamer 3.6 will deliver sufficient power for scudding, jumping, and sliding across snow on skis or a snowboard. Any help would be appreciated in answering my questions! Thanks for your time.

Posts: 75 (10/24/04 03:15:22) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I can profess to know much about the Beamer, but as it is 3.6m, it's about the right size to sart off with. It will certainly povide enough power for scudding etc in the autumn and winter winds. Unfortunately I can't comment on how much lift it generates for jumping, but you will certainly slide around on a breezy day. Initially please make sure you do not fly when no-one else is around as that is often when problems occur, especially when you are new to flying a particular kite. If you can go to a shop or club meet, or even a festival before you buy and try one out so much the better.

Much less than on water and actually much less than any other kite sport I've tried. On snow is also much easier to set edges and go upwind. Trade-off is temperature. Have fun.
