Hope you like the new forum colours?
Maybe this will help you to decide to actually register an account? When registering an account, there is no fee, but the registration if not read properly makes you think there is, choose the free account not the eZsupporter account. Regards Bill |

re dead threads | ||
|
didnt know where to put this bill cos we havent got a thread for ideas on the site,,
hope i aint out of place sayin this but would there be any benefit from deleting old threads?? as in ones that are 6 months old n have had no replies,,,, i know it makes the site look unused but surely it`d free up a bit of web space,cos if noone has posted or replied to say,,, a for sale or wanted thread then surely its dead n can be deleted,, just a thought mate, oh n its a pity we cant put pics on the forums, as in sum of the things we do at meets,,,, |

Re: re dead threads | ||

The thing is, deleting older posts discourages people from posting, I feel anyway. Imagine spending a lot of time typing informative posts, which over time turn into a vast searchable archive of useful information. People will direct new people to the past info, only to find it's no longer there.
I know it may save on some server space, although probably not much with it mainly being text only, but it takes a lot of useful info away from the forum. If posts must go, maybe it would be better to do it on a post by post basis. IE: if they are just chat type posts, then they could be deleted, but if they have info (similar to the Buster thread at the moment), then they could be left. The only downside to this is it would mean reading all the posts to check their content before deleting. |

Bill,
Have to say, that although I kinda like the new colour scheme, it's a bit in-yer-face ! I was catching up on the board late last night, and I found it actually a little difficult to read (OK so I'd had a couple of drinkies, but it wasnt down to that Tryin' to be constructive here ! What do other people think ? Pappa-D www.mental.as/pappa-d

thats the type of threads i mean Mark,, i dont mean get rid of the info ones,, more like the general drivel that has run its course and died out,, like the for sale wanted ones,, as soon as the job is done then the threads can be deleted,,

I find it a bit bright too Pappa. I just came on at teatime to see it like this, it does make your eyes ache after a few minutes. Also the new post markers are harder to make out, the old envelope was easier to spot, than the light coloured paperclip.
EDIT: You can now though, thanks Bill. |

Ok firstly:-
There is a section on the forum called KiteZone - Issues / Fixes / Ideas, which is probs best place to put this type of thread. Was my fault for adding the 'hope you like the new colours' to this thread, but I welcome all feedback, as I'm not the only person using this forum....I hope....LOL Secondly:- Server space doesnt bother me as its not limited, and if you delete threads, the numbers go down and the forum looks unused, like you said. As for the for Sale and wanted area, I agree that that should be cleaned out reg. As well as idle chit chat. Thirdly:- As for images, if the image is already stored on a website, you can add the link, hence the cap comp pic? Or am I missing something about adding pics? May be that you need to be logged in and where it says formatting on the post, choose ezCodes, that way the buttons for adding an image etc appear on the left. Fourthly (hmmm is that a real word...LOL):- How do you mean 'in your face' is the white too white and cause glare or can you be more specific? You can now edit your post Mark, the board announcements was the only forum the editor couldnt, dont know why it was still setup like that, I must have missed it. I'll open a new thread in the KiteZone issues section about the colour scheme, and get some feedback on what colours to change. Regards Bill |

Re: pics | ||

Yep, I understand Scud.
Problem is eZboard doesn't have that functionality, well not yet, but thats not to say it wont be implemented at a later update. I'll see if i can do a work around regarding that one. Maybe create an account on KiteZone that everyone can ftp into, and upload the pics there, then link back to them from here? Need to put more thought into that regarding security tho, so it may never happen. Regards Bill P.S. there is always free webspace that you all must have...LOL...even if you dont have a website, you can still upload your pics there, and use that to link back? |
